Pet Sitter, Cat Sitter, Dog Walker, Dog Boarder based in Bromley, Kent

This is Billy the Beagle.  I walk Billy three times a week and sometimes at weekends.  We are usually in Beckenham Place Park and sometimes in South Norwood Country Park.  Billy is usually off lead but like all Beagles he sometimes disappears for a little bit too long for my nerves, so he ends up on the lead for a while.
Georgie the kitten loves her play tower and enjoys sleeping in the little pod at the top.  This is the second time I have looked after Georgie and I am looking forward to many more cat sits as her owner is a frequent flyer for work.

Curley has come to stay and she is sharing me with Charlie the Pointer and Buckley the Parsons Terrier.  Charlie is deaf so is always walked on lead.
Buckley is quite a character and is trying to rule the roost .  No matter how much I cover my sofa he always lays on the bit that is not covered.  Until I see him of course :)
Charlie the Pointer is a lovely girl (although has haloween eyes in this pic).  She loves her walks and chasing a ball in the park.

Bromley Pet Sitter/Dog Walker/Dog Boarder

This is little Murphy who is a new doggy day care client. He loves playing with the other dogs here and goes home happy and tired.
This is Pip, another new doggy day care client.  She comes on a different day to Murphy and prefers to be on her own here.  She is a little possessive with toys so I have to make sure there are no toys on the floor as that could result in a bit of growling towards any other dogs here.
This is Phil.  I've looked after Phil once before. Phil's tea - 7 or 8 prawns on top of his dry food :)
Jasper and Tilly are boarding here at the moment.  They have just said goodbye to Buckley a little Parsons Terrier who stayed overnight.  They are staying until Bank Holiday Monday and will have the pleasure of meeting another two doggy clients who are arriving that morning.
Look who's just arrived.  Cooper senses when it is going to thunder and lo and behold he appears in my garden from 3 gardens down, crashing through the fences and leaving a nice big hole :(
A quick phone call to his owner and he is collected and taken home.

Beware of imposters, I really am the dog boarder your dog would choose :)

Simple Solutions Pee Post - simple-solutions-pee-post

I have just found a really interesting product which may solve the problem of dead patches on my grass from all the dog pee.  The first pee of the day is usually the strongest so I am going to buy a few of these pee posts and put them around the garden where I want the dogs to pee.  I will give you my opinion after the next dog board.

Has anyone else tried this?

Bromley Dog Walker/Pet Sitter

Jasper

When is it ever going to stop raining!  I'm sitting here looking out of the window into the garden with three dogs at my feet, all waiting to go out for a walk.  Luckily we went out this morning but I would like to take them out again this afternoon.
Barry

Tilly
At the moment I have three dogs boarding in the house and my daughter is looking after Daphne and Barry at their home.  Tilly and Jasper, two retrievers are here and also Bear.  Bear is going home tonight and the retrievers are going home on Sunday.

Roll on next week, when Lobo returns from holiday and Ruby, a lovely German Pointer is booked for a few day cares.

Lets hope the sun returns with Lobo next week :)

Have a good weekend

Beautiful day dog walking and cat sitting in Bromley

What a glorious day!

I've just finished my dog walks and am waiting for Buster's owner to come and pick him up.  Buster has stayed for the day today and is back again on Friday.  I made sure the dogs kept to the shade today and had plenty of playtime in the river that runs through Beckenham Place Park.

Here's a few pictures of some of the pets I have been looking after recently.  That's me holding Barry, a very old dog that comes to stay with his younger companion Daphne and I will be seeing him again very soon as they are both booked in for the day this Friday.

Above the picture of Barry is another oldie.  Her name is Chloe and I have been looking after her for about 4 years now.  She is very sweet and loves a cuddle.

The two spaniels below are Skye and Freddie.  I walk them every other week.  They love their walks and scoot off as soon as we arrive at the park, only to return to check on my whereabouts and then they are off again!

This is Suzie and Buster.  Suzie the pug has really grown in confidence since she started walking with the other dogs.  Here she is playing with Buster, a little dog I look after two days a week at home.
And I couldn't resist taking a picture of these flowers in Beckenham Place Park today.  The colour shone in the sunshine and announced the arrival of summer at last :)

Come back soon

Dog walking and Cat Sitting Today

Just finished my dog walks and only have one cat sit this evening so I'm now at home contemplating the cleaning.  I always treat myself and the family (they have to help) to a Chinese takeaway when we've cleaned the house, so it's a good incentive and a great way to start the week.

Just received a book I ordered from Amazon call 'Fab Abs in 6 weeks', so in 6 weeks time expect to see a very trim pet sitter arriving to collect your pets :)

Better get off and start rallying the troops.

Come back soon

Bromley Pet Sitter/Dog Walker and Dog Boarder

Lovely weather for dog walking at the moment and I think because of the lovely weather everyone is thinking about getting away for Easter.

This Easter my house is going to be dog central and my busiest day is Saturday.  I will be looking after a labradoodle, a pug, a little terrier and a terrier mix.  Things will be busy, busy, busy this weekend but we are still planning a family day on Sunday with people coming over for a big Sunday lunch.  They are all looking forward to seeing the dogs I have staying and coming out for  a midday dog walk in Beckenham Place Park.

Im busy with cats too at the moment and Im enjoying my morning visits before starting the midday dog walks.

Give me a call or email if you would like to enquire about cat sitting, dog walking or dog boarding or visit my website www.purr-fectkitty.co.uk for more information.

Happy Easter :)

Saturday, 4 February 2012

I've just noticed I've got two followers YAY!  Hi David and Anya, Little Glasses is my daughter Anya :).  It's only taken three years of posting on this blog :(  I don't mind, I enjoy my job and I enjoy writing about it :).
This is how my week went and will give you an idea of what I get up to.

Chloe
Monday

Starts with an early morning walk with Suzie, a little pug.  John takes her out on her 2 hour walk and I join him after an hour with whoever is boarding with me.  Today it was a standard poodle called Chloe.

Marley
Paid a visit to a neighbours cat, Gibson who has to be fed and then is usually let out for the day and let back in in the evening.  It's so cold at the moment I usually let him back in after a few hours.  Had to visit Lily between 10 and 10.30am to give her an insulin injection and some cuddles and then it was off  to collect the lunchtime dogs, Lobo, Marley and Poppy and Paolo.  Today instead of John, my daughter joined me on the walk. Chloe came along too and we had a nice walk in the sunshine.

The day finished with an evening visit to Lily and another insulin injection, more cuddles and brushing and a couple of visits to Gibson to let him out and back in again for the night.

Skye and Freddy have a habit of barking  very loudly at me If I stop to chat to anyone
Tuesday

Buster came for the day today.  He is a little dog but very dominant. I went over the road to let Gibson out and then  I paid a visit to Lily.  At 11am I came back to walk Buster, Lobo and Marley while John walked Poppy and Paolo and Skye and Freddy.  We met up in the woods and had a warm by a bonfire which someone has been keeping alight.  Very cold day but sunny, so pleasant to walk the dogs.  Usual evening visits to Lily and Gibson.  Last visit to Gibson so made sure the place was spic and span for my neighbours return.

Lily
Wednesday

John walked Suzie for two hours and I joined him for an hour with Jasper, a lovely 1 yr old spaniel.
Managed a slice of toast before it was off to visit Lily.  Fed her and tried to warm the flat up by putting on an extra heater.  Gave her a brush and cuddle and it was off to pick up Lobo and Skye and Freddy while John picked up Marley and Poppy and Paolo.  Lovely walk although bitterley cold.

In the evening I had a consultation with a lady who wants me to walk her little puppy, Oscar.  He is 4 months old and a cross labrador, collie.  Luckily we got on like a house on fire and I start walking Oscar from next week.  He will join one of the lunchtime walks, first on lead and then he will be walked off lead.  John visited Lily in the evening and I had a rare night off.

Thursday

Suzie and Jasper
Buster arrived about 8am and I took him for a walk before going off to meet a new client who is interested in my cat sitting service.  She happily booked my services and I will me starting the cat sit in a few weeks time, visiting her two lovely cats.  Scooted over to Lily to administer the insulin inject and then it was off to pick up Lobo.  Thursday is a quiet day for dog walking , so I had time to meet a friend for lunch.  I took Buster with me on the walk with Lobo and then took him to the pub, a dog friendly pub in Beckenham called the Jolly Woodman.  Finished the day with an evening visit to Lily.

Friday

First job - pick up Suzie and Jasper for an hours walk.  Buster was with me today as well.  After that I went over to see Lily and then picked up Marley, Lobo and Buster for a walk in Beckenham Place Park.  I was joined by my nephew today, so the dogs got extra time while we chatted and caught up with each other.

Lunar
Stella
In the evening it was off to visit Lily and then off to see Stella and Lunar, two lovely black cats who love playing with feathers on a stick.

Saturday

John made the last visit to Lily and left the place clean and tidy for her owner's return. He then went off to visit Stella and Lunar.

Promise of snow tonight and luckily I only had morning jobs and the night off.   I had a consultation with a lovely labradoodle this morning who is coming to board in April if all goes well with his trial visit in two weeks.  He is a lovely shaggy brown colour and Im really looking forward to the trial day with him.  His name is Berkeley and I will post a picture up of him on facebook for you all to see.

I hope you have enjoyed hearing about the pets I have looked after this week and if you are considering a pet sitter to look after your pets, I hope you call so that we can meet in person and have a chat.

Bye Bye and keep warm :)

Bromley Pet Sitter/Dog Walker - Purr-fect Kitty - wishes you all a Happy New Year 2012

Whether you are looking at this blog because you are searching for a pet minder or you are a client already, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

I'm just back from a very cold one hour dog walk in Beckenham Place Park with Marley, Skye and Freddy, three dogs I have been looking after for a long time now.  All three dogs like to do their own thing.  Marley at least stays quite close to me, while Skye and Freddy shoot off and just check back with me every now and again.  We keep to the same route so that no one gets lost :)
Bear

I don't have many cats at the moment as everyone is back from their Christmas breaks.  I am looking after a lovely (almost feral) cat called Charley and two beautiful Guinea Pigs called Sonia and Tonia who make loads of noise as I approach the summer house they are housed in.  They are the last of the Christmas pet sits and my last visit to them is on Friday this week.  I also have a lovely little dog staying until Friday called Bear and he is just like a cuddly teddy bear :)  I am then off on a well earned break to Cornwall for a few days:)

If you are looking for a dog walker or a cat sitter please visit my website www.purr-fectkitty.co.uk or call me on 07931 960838 and we can have a chat.  I look forward to hearing from you.

For cat sitting I cover Beckenham, Penge, Beckenham, Catford,  Sydenham, Bromley, Chislehurst, Lee. Shortlands, West Wickham and Grove Park

For Dog walking I try to stay more local - Bromley, Shortlands, Beckenham and Penge (please call if you are outside these areas as I may still be able to dog walk for you).  I am happy to do ad hoc dog walks as well as regular dog walks.

I also offer a dog boarding service.

I look after other pets too :)

Bromley Cat Sitting and Dog Walking

Winter is upon us.  I have spent the day dog walking in the rain and enjoyed every minute of it.

Today I started the day at 8am when Buster (John's little charge for the day), a little chihuahua cross was dropped off for day care.  After playing with him for a while I got ready to go and visit the 5 cats I am looking after at the moment.  Buster went up the garden with my husband to his workshop and I scooted off to visit Valentine and Petra, Bobby and Kooky and Daisy.  Cat sits finished I started my dog walks.  I had two ad hoc visits booked today, a labrador called Lobo and a Labrador/Staffie called Brinna.  John took Lobo and Buster out and I walked Brinna.  Brinna is walked on lead to so I always walk her on her own and then I went off to pick up Marley (spaniel) and Poppy and Paolo (cairn and westie) for a walk in Beckenham Place Park for an hour.  I have been walking these dogs for a couple of years so we are all old friends.  The rain stayed in the air mainly so we didnt get too wet.  I met up with a friend who also has a spaniel and the dogs played for an hour before we all headed back.

Back home for lunch after dropping the dogs back and cleaning them up as best I could.  A little bit of tlc for my daughter who has a cold and is off school and its time for checking on emails and doing any admin that is required.  Buster's owner picked him up at 4.30pm so I had time for a little chat before going off again at 5pm to walk Wolfie, a lovely little dog who lives down my road.  Wolfie is very scared of fireworks and unfortunately he heard a small bang in the distance and it took all my strength to stop him running off home.  We managed the 30 min walk without hearing any other fireworks and I took her home for her tea.  Then it was off to the two evening cat sits I had.

At 7.30pm I headed home for tea with the family and a well earned rest in front of the tv.

All in all a good day's work and plenty of time to get everything ready for tomorrow.  Let's hope the sun manages to shine just a little and the drizzle stops.

Come back soon,

Sharon

Pet Sitter Bromley - Purr-fect Kitty - running hot and cold

Hi, it's no wonder the English discuss the weather constantly; we have so much to discuss.  One minute it's pouring the next it's brilliant sunshine and we're all flagging in the heat, the next we are sheltering from a hail storm and then we're taking pictures of the brilliant rainbow in the sky.  Having an outside job I get to experience every change in the weather that's thrown my way throughout the day and I never know what to wear from one day to the next - sometimes from one hour to the next.  I think I am going to have to invest in some outdoor wear that keeps you cool but dry, so if anyone has any suggestions please email me.

Luckily for me I live near a very large wooded area with a little river running through it, so if it's hot, as it has been just lately, I can take the dogs for a walk and stay mainly in the shade with a stop off for a wallow in the stream.  John and I have been splitting our walks and this has been working out much better for us.  So usually now I will only be walking three dogs at a time.  Much more manageable!  I do admire the dogwalkers who can walk six or seven dogs without any help but that's not for me.

So who am I looking after at the moment?  Buster a big black lab, very well behaved and well trained.  Bear, a tri coloured Jack Russell cross, who has a few behaviour issues and Bob, the Schnauzer who is working through his unusual behaviours with a trainer.  I also have two gerbils staying for a week.  Outside of the house I am looking after a cat that doesn't even belong to the family who have hired me to feed him and their Guinea Pigs, two lovely puppies called Jasper and Honey and two beautiful Spaniels called Skye and Freddie who give me a heart attack every walk when they run off and don't come back for quite a while, they do always come back though, phew!  I am also looking after a client's garden who is on holiday, just watering and tending the plants.  Of course I cant forget Poppy and Paolo, two little regulars who enjoy their midday walk in the park, today accompanied by Jasper.

More cat sits starting soon and I will have some piccies to post very soon, so come back and visit again.

Thanks

Sharon

News from the Bromley Pet Sitter - Purr-fect Kitty

Good news for all!  My husband has decided, that after working in Pharmacy for many, many years (sorry John but you are quite old :) ), to come on board with Purr-fect Kitty to dog walk and pet sit, allowing me to take on more clients.  We are going to start advertising in the local area and hopefully will attract lots more clients to our pet sitting service in the hope that John, who will still be working 2 days a week in Pharmacy, will be able to give up completely.  Watch this space!

I have Buster staying at the moment and we have just had an hilarious time in the garden.  I was watering the plants at the top of the garden and Buster decided to completely flip and started trying to drink from the hose. He was launching himself at the nozzle and got soaked from head to foot.  I got my daughter to take some pics of him
Buster loves water and was this morning over Beckenham Place Park running in and out of the river and enjoying playing with his ball, which he ended up sharing with Cooper, my friend's Springer Spaniel, because we lost a ball as soon as we got to the park.  Nothing new there then :)

I have a few cat sits on the go at the moment.  Athena and Rosie and Garlic and Rosie.  Rosie is quite a popular name for cats.  I have at least five amongst my clients.  Harley and Marley are also really popular names for both cats and dogs.

Here are a few pictures of some of the cats I have looked after recently:-
Athena
Parker and Derek

Stella and Luna

Harley

I am approaching one of the busiest times of the year, the Easter break, so expect to see lots of lovely pictures of cats and dogs on my blog early May.

Come back soon xx

How to choose a Pet Sitter

We're all thinking of our summer holidays and that means sun, fun and what the heck are we going to do with our dog?  Or cat, if you're a cat person.  For many people, the thought of leaving their much loved, four-legged family member in a boarding kennel is too hard.  A pet sitter is a brilliant option. But how do you choose one?

A pet sitter should be CRB checked and have liability insurance. Ask to see proof of these.

A pet sitter should also be able to provide you with references from previous clients.  For your peace of mind call a few of them and have a chat.

Always meet with the pet sitter before making any booking or paying a deposit.  Most pet sitters will want to meet you at your home to meet with your pets and to find out where everything is kept that will be needed during the pet sit. Be very wary of pet sitters who do not insist on this.

Keys must always be checked in the locks, there will be forms to fill in and a contract to sign between yourself and the petsitter. Give as much information as you can to the pet sitter about your pet to ensure your pet sitter takes great care of your pet.

Follow these tips and book your pet sitter with confidence!

Bromley Pet Sitter - Purr-fect Kitty Dogs and Cats

Well what a winter it has been.  A winter of many cancellations.  I like the snow but when it starts to get in the way of everyday life, like it did before Christmas, it becomes a pain.  Christmas should be my busiest time of year but with everybody having to cancel their holidays, I wasn't that busy at all.

I also had some really sad news before Christmas.  Charlotte sent me a Christmas card with a lovely picture of Colin on the front and sadly told me that Colin had passed away.  There are quite a few pictures of Colin on this blog as I looked after him quite a few times.  Sadly he was getting iller and iller. The picture above is Colin in happier times.

Here are some pictures of the pet sits that did happen over the Christmas period :)
My daughter Anya with Kizzy
This is a new puppy I am helping to look after when the owners' shifts coincide.  Her name is Kizzy and she is a little Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.

Me and the Penge chucks
Pip, Marley and Buster
Another little pup I looked after a few times before Christmas.  Her name is Nala.

Buster
Unfortunately my time with Buster has ended but he may come and board next year.  Fingers crossed.
This is Honey.  Honey is deaf and can't walk very well.  She is coming to stay while her owners are on holiday in a weeks time so expect to see some more pictures of her.

Chloe guarding the door.  I had another dog at home that day and Chloe was making sure he couldn't come in.  Bob was fine with it though, he's been with us for a long time and doesn't let silly things like that bother him.
This is Skye. You can read a bit about her in an earlier post.  Skye came to stay while her owners got married in December.  I was a bit worried about how she would get on, but I needn't have as everything went swimmingly.
Bob getting his Christmas Cracker
Boris trying to get his muzzle off.
Bear my last boarder. And above with Bob, my day dog.  Luckily I have Bob twice a week at the moment.  Bob is doing excellently with his training and is a pleasure to walk now.  Bear should be coming to board a few times next year while his owner works away.  We can't wait to have Bear back.  He grew very attached to my 21 year old son and really missed him when he was away at work.  He loved having his belly rubbed as you can see in the photo above.

You can now follow me on Facebook.  Just "like" Purr-fect Kitty, Bromley Pet Sitter (local business) and see more pictures on a more regular basis.
