Pet Sitter, Cat Sitter, Dog Walker, Dog Boarder based in Bromley, Kent

This is Billy the Beagle.  I walk Billy three times a week and sometimes at weekends.  We are usually in Beckenham Place Park and sometimes in South Norwood Country Park.  Billy is usually off lead but like all Beagles he sometimes disappears for a little bit too long for my nerves, so he ends up on the lead for a while.

Georgie the kitten loves her play tower and enjoys sleeping in the little pod at the top.  This is the second time I have looked after Georgie and I am looking forward to many more cat sits as her owner is a frequent flyer for work.






 Curley has come to stay and she is sharing me with Charlie the Pointer and Buckley the Parsons Terrier.  Charlie is deaf so is always walked on lead.

Buckley is quite a character and is trying to rule the roost .  No matter how much I cover my sofa he always lays on the bit that is not covered.  Until I see him of course :)

Charlie the Pointer is a lovely girl (although has haloween eyes in this pic).  She loves her walks and chasing a ball in the park.

Bromley Pet Sitter - Purr-fect Kitty Dogs and Cats

 Well what a winter it has been.  A winter of many cancellations.  I like the snow but when it starts to get in the way of everyday life, like it did before Christmas, it becomes a pain.  Christmas should be my busiest time of year but with everybody having to cancel their holidays, I wasn't that busy at all. 

I also had some really sad news before Christmas.  Charlotte sent me a Christmas card with a lovely picture of Colin on the front and sadly told me that Colin had passed away.  There are quite a few pictures of Colin on this blog as I looked after him quite a few times.  Sadly he was getting iller and iller. The picture above is Colin in happier times.

 This is a new puppy I am helping to look after when the owners' shifts coincide.  Her name is Kizzy and she is a little Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.

Unfortunately my time with Buster has ended but he may come and board next year.  Fingers crossed.

This is Honey.  Honey is deaf and can't walk very well.  She is coming to stay while her owners are on holiday in a weeks time so expect to see some more pictures of her.

 

Chloe guarding the door.  I had another dog at home that day and Chloe was making sure he couldn't come in.  Bob was fine with it though, he's been with us for a long time and doesn't let silly things like that bother him.

This is Skye. You can read a bit about her in an earlier post.  Skye came to stay while her owners got married in December.  I was a bit worried about how she would get on, but I needn't have as everything went swimmingly.

Bear my last boarder. And above with Bob, my day dog.  Luckily I have Bob twice a week at the moment.  Bob is doing excellently with his training and is a pleasure to walk now.  Bear should be coming to board a few times next year while his owner works away.  We can't wait to have Bear back.  He grew very attached to my 21 year old son and really missed him when he was away at work.  He loved having his belly rubbed as you can see in the photo above.

I have had an amazing time recently looking after such lovely pets that I really feel blessed to have such an enjoyable job. Sometimes the jobs only last a week or two and in the case of Pog, just one visit, but I'm left with such happy memories and stories to tell that I become emotionally attached to every animal I look after.

Just a little bit about some of the pets in the video - Lenny the labradoodle is staying with me at the moment and if I meet one more person who tells me labradoodles don't shed, I think I'll bring them home with me to see the thick layer of course fur on my carpets. Lenny!

Bob stays with me once a week usually, sometimes twice, just for the daytime while his owners are at work. He has a bit of a fixation with feet, especially trainers, so we are going to try some whistle diversionary tactics. I'll tell you how we get on.

Unfortunately I'm not walking Pie at the moment but enjoyed the week I was walking her over Crystal Palace Park. She was so affectionate and really loved attention. Pie came from Battersea Dogs Home and had been really mistreated in the past so I'm glad she's now been adopted by a lovely girl and been given the chance of a loving home.

Colin and Chloe, two Purr-fect Kitty regulars, are now going out into the garden and are really settled. Charlotte, their owner, has really persevered with them and they are a credit to her.

Cutie is very happy to have Mike back with her. I have been looking after Cutie for a friend who went on a cruise for four months. I visited her once a day for about an hour and sometimes (if I had the time) I'd go round there and watch a film so that she wasn't too lonely. Cutie showed no signs of anxiety and Mike has returned to a very relaxed cat.

Theo was rescued from a farm by his owner's son. Her son was at university and he and his friends heard about a litter of kittens that were going to be drowned. So they rode down on their bikes with back packs and rescued them all. Theo now lives in luxury and doesn't he deserve it!

Bromley Pet Sitter - Purr-fect Kitty

You've probably visited this blog because you are trying to decide whether to send your cat or dog to kennels or employ a pet sitter.
Every month or so I update this blog with pictures of the pets I have been looking after and sometimes a little story about the pet sit or dog board. I hope this will help you decide and if you do decide on a pet sitter, I hope you give me a call to discuss your requirements.

In the last couple of months I have been very busy so I am going to feature a few of the cat sits and three of the dog boards.

First up Ruby. A lovely old dog with a lovely temperament and a loving nature. She is about 9 years old and her owner was away for a few days. Ruby was a bit of a nightmare to walk on a lead and wasn't allowed off lead in the park so we did most of our playing in the garden (which was massive!). Ruby loved running for her deflated rugby ball, her frisbee and tennis ball. She had a habit of trying to get the toys all in her mouth at the same time to bring them back which was really quite comical. In the evening she would lie by my feet and roll over so that I could rub her belly. Who wouldn't enjoy that ?

For the last four days I have had Bob staying with me, a beautiful Schnauzer. Bob had beautiful colouring and his eyebrows were sort of duck egg blue. He was a little anxious when he arrived, complete with pheramone collar, but quickly settled down. Because he was anxious I relaxed the rules a bit and let him sleep on my bed, just like he did at home. He was no trouble during the night and slept between me and my husband or at the bottom of the bed. In the morning he

went out in the garden for an early morning toilet break and then came back upstairs and settled down again or looked out the window and growled at whoever was going past:) Bob was walked three times a day, mostly off lead and he was very good, playing nicely with other dogs, chasing his ball and not giving it back and I had been warned about his obsession with joggers and cyclists but he only chased two people, which I thought was quite impressive. I knicknamed Bob, Biscuit Bob, because he was a bit hit and miss if you called Bob to get him to come back, but if you shouted biscuit, he came back no problem:)

Cutie is a cat I have been looking after for a friend of mine who has gone on a cruise. Cutie is an indoor cat, she does have a cat flap but doesn't really like going out much. On the first day of sunshine I opened the front door and took my cup of tea out onto the steps that lead up to the flat and Cutie came out with me for a little while. She seemed to enjoy being out in the sun but only stayed out for about 10 minutes before she decided she'd had enough.
Buno, the Bangladeshi cat. Buno's owners adopted him when they were working over there and decided when they returned to England to bring Buno with them. He had to spend a long time in quarantine but now resides in Shortlands. He was feral but is now a house cat and a very vocal one at that. We had a few chats when I visited. Of course he was speaking Bangladeshi so I didn't understand him at all :)
This is Colin and Chloe, two Purr-fect Kitty regulars. Here they are in a licking frenzy. They were much more relaxed this time round and both cats liked jumping on my lap for a stroke after they had wolfed down their food. It was nice to see them so happy because they had had a big upheaval when I first started looking after them and although Chloe settled down quickly, Colin found it very difficult.
This is the lovely Tilly, a beautiful black labrador pup. Tilly came to stay while her owner had to work very long hours over a couple of days. Like all labradors, Tilly loved a good run in the park and I had some lovely walks with her. Tilly arrived with a huge crate which she slept in at night and lots of toys. I am hoping Tilly becomes a regular boarder.

Thats just a taste of some of the pets I have looked after in the last couple of months. Come back to soon to meet more of my pets. I have some new dog and cat sits starting in the next few weeks and I'm looking forward to a very busy Easter.

Bromley Cat Sitter and Dog Walker

I hope you have all had a good start to the year. Going by the amount of new enquiries I have had already I think this year is going to be a busy one. I have also won the lottery twice which is unbelievable for me:) Before you all get excited it was for £10 and £20, but at least it's going up! At the moment I am getting lots of enquiries about dog boarding and I'm having to turn them all away; the extension that I was hoping would be finished soon after Christmas got off to a very slow start and in the end was held up for two weeks with the weather and is being held up now because of beam dimensions???? It looks like I won't be boarding again until the beginning of March, so that's a disappointment.

Workwise January and February are always slow months but I have had new clients so have some pictures for you.

First up is Rigsby. Welcome back Rigsby. I was so pleased to hear from Rigsby's owner that he needed me to walk Rigsby again. Here he is in his basket.


My first cat is Cutie. Cutie is my friend's cat and he has gone away for 3 months on an around the world cruise. Because of the hold up with the building I have been unable to bring Cutie to my house as was planned, and instead I go round to see her as much as I can. It's working out quite well at the moment and I'm spending at least 2 hours a day there, so Cutie is getting a lot of attention. In the next few weeks I'll be going round there more as my house is going to be full of workmen and will be very dusty, so it'll become a bit of a port in a storm. Here's two pictures of Cutie.
Cutie is a great lap cat as you can see and lets you know if she isn't getting enough attention by tapping you on the chin with her paw.






I am really pleased to introduce you to JL and Beauregard. JL is a Maine Coon and Beau is a Norwegian Forest Cat. They are absolutely gorgeous and JL is the largest cat I've ever looked after. When I started looking after them they wouldn't come out from under the bed, but now they greet me and I'm able to groom and pet them.

Two other new cats are Basil and Sybil. Two British Shorthaired cats. Basil, Shorthair Blue and Sybil, Shorthair Blue and Cream. They are quite nervous of me still and I could only get pictures of them on the top of cupboards. On one of the visits they were quite brave and came up to me but the next time I came they seemed quite skittish. I'm sure when I've looked after them a few more times they will come round :)

Look forward to seeing pictures of a lovely puppy I am going to be walking and another beautiful black labrador who I will be walking every day in February. Let's hope the weather improves!

Unfortunately I end this post on a sad note as two of my clients informed me recently that their cat Marley had been run over. Marley was a beautiful black and white cat and I last looked after her before Christmas. I was very sad to hear the news and I hope Harley, Wayne and Bonnie are slowly getting over there loss. RIP Marley.

Pet Sitting in Bromley, Christmas 09

Christmas is over and New Year celebrations out of the way but life is still busy for Sharon, the Bromley Pet Sitter, Purr-fect Kitty.
Here are a few pictures of the pets I have looked after this past month.
First up the most christmassey picture is of Seymour in his christmas hat. I walked Seymour one evening at the beginning of the month and his mummy sent me this picture.
On New Years Eve I had the pleasure of Harley's company for the day and here he is playing with his tug toy in the hallway. He later completely destroyed a present he had found under the tree. Harley!!

I also had the pleasure of looking after Buster (labrador) for a night and Lenny (labradoodle) came to stay for a day and half. They were both brilliant and you can see them below.

Lenny took a liking to my sofa and he was only allowed to sleep on it if he stayed on the blanket :)

Over the Christmas holiday I looked after Cooper and Jen (my friends spaniels) while they holidayed in Cornwall with their family. They kept me very busy and were quite hard to walk during the icy weather as Jen pulls quite a lot on her lead, so I had to have my wits about me. Here they are in the snow.


And now for the cats I looked after:-
In one house I am looking after 4 cats. Three I knew about and one the owners failed to tell me about. When this cat appeared at the house I didn't know if it was a neighbour's cat or if it belonged at the house. It's details weren't on my form but something made me think that I shouldn't shoo it away. That night I emailed the owners about the cat and they, just as I thought, told me they had acquired a new cat but had forgotten to tell me about it ;) I'm just the pet sitter after all :) And here they are:-

And now for an oldie called Whiskey (the one on the stairs) and Max (black and white with red collar).
Whiskey was on antibiotics and each morning I had to give him a tablet wrapped in a piece of turkey. A few times the turkey was eaten and tablet dropped onto the floor but on the whole he was very good about taking them. Max didnt have any playmates and looked very lonely each time I visited so I tried to give him a bit of extra attention. Daisy is a lovely old girl and you can see her sitting on the green cover on the back of her sofa. She had been in the wars recently but was improving day by day.

Then I had some purr-fect kitty regulars Baloo and Bagheera (black cats), Marley (black and White) and Harley (tabby), and Marley (large black and white) and Noah (large, mostly black). All six are very affectionate cats and I loved going round to see them and getting reacquainted. On one of the evening visits to Harley and Marley, I had a little Christmas helper, Marcus and you can see him making friends with Marley. (see below)

I looked after three other Purr-fect Kitty regulars Marigold, my most nervous cat and two lovely kittens called Coco and Sophie. The kittens were georgeous as ever. Unfortunately I never get a picture of Marigold as she usually hides as soon as she hears the key in the door.

Last but not least two new cats called Agnus and Lionel. Agnus, a beautiful white cat and Lionel a really long legged ginger cat. I hope they become regulars as they are so affectionate and love the attention of daily visits.
